Your son has been studying for years to become the captain of a cruise liner and the day has finally come. Not only has he passed his courses with flying colors, he has been hired to be the captain of a luxury liner. Demonstrate how proud you are of him by looking for space at a local banquet hall rental and decking it out with decor that is representative of the new career.

Choose Some Themed Table Coverings

Many banquet halls feature rental services that include table linens, satin runners, cutlery, stemware, fine china, and furnishings. If you have selected a banquet hall that includes all of the accessories that you need, you will be able to dictate how you would like the dining area to be set up and choose the coverings that will be used to adorn the tabletops.

Start out by selecting some crisp white linens to cover the tables with. The stark white color can be representative of a cruise liner's exterior. Add a wide, royal blue satin runner to cover the central part of each table. The blue can be symbolic of the ocean. Small wooden boats or glass bottles that each contain a scale model of a ship can be used as the centerpieces. Plain white china and clear glassware will complement the colors of the table coverings.

Set Up A Photo Area

If a photo booth rental is offered at the banquet hall, choose one that includes props and backdrops so that you and the guests can participate in photo sessions that correlate to the 'ship' theme. Even if a booth rental is not available through the rental hall, you have the opportunity to rent a booth from an outside source and can have the booth delivered to the hall.

Bring along some additional props, such as a captain's hat, leis, and sailors caps. These items can be worn by your son and the party guests and will assist with recreating a scene that depicts embarking on a boat journey.

Play Some Themed Music

If a disc jockey's services are included with your rental package, provide him/her with a list of boat-themed songs that you would like them to play throughout the celebration. All of the songs do not need to be about your son's career, but it will be special for some songs to be played that hold meaning to him and that he will appreciate hearing during the festivities.
