About Me

The Perfect Wedding Reception Venue

A couple of months ago, my younger sister got married in a beautiful ceremony at her church. Our father has pastored this rural, evangelical church for the past twenty-nine years. Therefore, this special place to both of us was the obvious right venue to have her wedding at. After the wedding ceremony, my parents hosted a reception in the church’s activity building. My sister even decorated this large building herself. Have you picked a venue for your wedding, but don’t know where to have your reception at? When looking for the right place to have this special event, consider your personality and the personality of your future mate. For instance, if you’re cowboy or a cowgirl, you probably wouldn’t enjoy a wedding reception at an upscale country club in town. On this blog, you will discover the best places to host a wedding reception at.

The Perfect Wedding Reception Venue

Wedding Venues For Water Lovers

by Virgil Woods

If you and your spouse-to-be are passionate about beaches, lakes, oceans, and all things water, consider having your wedding and reception in your favorite place. If you don't have the budget for traveling to an exotic tropical location, you may still be able to find a prime waterfront location near your home.

After choosing the perfect spot, inquire as to whether it's special event-friendly or not. If you plan on having a live band or DJ, make sure that music is allowed at the property. You may also need to obtain an alcohol permit if you plan on serving adult beverages at your reception.

Another thing to consider is weather. You need to have a back-up plan in place in case of rain or storms. For instance, you can set up a party tent on the beach or lakefront, or choose a location that has an indoor or covered venue, such as a gazebo, barn, or pavilion, available for use.

Here are some romantic waterfront wedding venue ideas to get you started:

1. Lake

For couples who love spending time in a rustic cabin in the woods or boating, a lakefront wedding may be the ideal location. You can set up casual seating elements, such as picnic tables and wood table and chair sets, and enhance the outdoor space with nautical-inspired decor, such as wrought iron lanterns, as well.

When it comes to food, take advantage of the location by serving grilled items, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, and vegetable skewers. Set up cold selections, such as potato or macaroni salad, buffet-style and have guests fill their own plates.

At the end of the meal, invite friends and family members to make s'mores and sit around a large campfire.

2. Ocean

If a tropical setting is more your style, an ocean beachfront venue can't be beat. If you don't live near a tropical beach, consider flying your guests to an island location for the nuptials if your budget allows.

Say your vows next to the water at sunset, and spend the rest of the night dancing on the sand. Location-inspired menu ideas include shrimp and pineapple skewers, grilled fish sliders, key lime pie. and coconut cake.

3. Botanical Gardens

Indoor botanical garden venues will allow you to incorporate water into your event even in the middle of winter. Choose a nearby garden attraction that include ponds, waterfalls and lush gardens to create a serene backdrop on your special day.

When talking to a wedding venue like Rainbow Gardens, ask if they also offer catering services as part of a event package deal, which may help you save time and money.
